Music Video Release!
When I was just a little girl my family told me so many things that would help shape me into the person I am today. One of those things was the idea that “It’s lonely at the top.”
In my mind that didn’t mean they didn’t want me to reach for the top. In my mind it meant that I needed to take others to the top with me. That lesson has never left me and I try to live by it in everthing I do – especially in my teaching. That’s why whenever I have the chance to help a student go to the next level, I do my very best to help them get there.
That’s what happened with my student Mary Rene Quarles. She is the singer featured in the video above. Last spring I started a project called Fun Sized Concerts in which each student would be able to sing songs written by me just for them and perform them LIVE on Facebook. While I was writing Monday Is Coming for Mary Rene’s concert, she had some pretty good ideas for some of the lyrics. That’s how she came to be one of the co-writers of the song!
From then until now she has released her first single at only 13years old and today is releasing her first music video! I am so happy to be able to be on this journey with her. And just in case you’re wondering – yes, you will be seeing more from me and some of my other students as well! This is only the beginning.

Ever noticed how the weekend comes and goes in a flash but MONDAY gets here and it seems to take an eternity for the weekend to roll around again? I see you nodding your head.
That right there- that sinking feeling you got when you thought about Monday comin- is the moment that my co-writers Mary Rene Quarles and Jayne Olderman were thinking about when we wrote “Monday Is Coming”. This fun song sent us on a mission to #TurnUpTheWeekend and get you so pumped that Monday doesn’t even bother you anymore!
